Active Warrants Lead to Arrest of Vehicle Passengers

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Roger Jacobs (21) of Paterson, N.J. and Shaquan Capron (25) of Newark, N.J. on June 11, 2017 for having active arrest warrants issued by the Paterson Municipal Court. In addition, Capron was also charged with possessing less than 50 grams of marijuana as well.

On that date, at approximately 4:22 P.M., Officers David Lagan and Christopher Yoo were on patrol on Lane Road when they allegedly observed a 2003 Nissan with improperly tinted windows. The vehicle was then stopped, with Capron and Jacobs being passengers in it. As the officers were speaking with the driver and occupants it is alleged that they detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Further investigation allegedly revealed the discovery of suspected marijuana in the possession of Capron. A further check of both Capron and Jacobs revealed that both had active arrest warrants issued by the Paterson Municipal Court. Both were then placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.

Both were eventually released on their own recognizance pending an appearance in the Paterson Municipal Court on June 12, 2017.

(It should be noted that the charges against both are merely allegations and that both are presumed innocent until they either plead guilty or are found guilty in a court of law)
