Garda Security Officer Arrested for $100,000 Theft of Cash

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Larry Brooks (19) of Elizabeth, N.J. for a theft of $100,000 of cash that occurred on July 25, 2017.

On July 26, 2017, security officials from Garda contacted the Fairfield Police Department after they had discovered that one of their employees, later identified as Brooks and who had only been employed for one day at the company, had allegedly stolen $100,000 in cash on the previous evening. It was alleged that the theft was caught on the company’s surveillance video system. Security officers were allegedly able to recover $85,900 from a vehicle that was parked in Elizabeth prior to contacting the police.

Brooks was arrested by Fairfield Detectives Jeffrey Didyk and Ian Rasmussen and was charged with a second degree theft. He was released on his own recognizance and the matter will be forwarded to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution.

(It should be noted that the charge against Brook is merely an allegation and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
