Burlington Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Richard Valdez (22) of Burlington, N.J. for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana on February 11, 2018. On that date, at approximately 2:12 P.M., Officer David Lagan was on patrol on Passaic Avenue when he allegedly observed a 2002 Honda that had no front license plate. The vehicle was then stopped on Pier Lane West and found to be operated by Valdez.

As the officer was speaking with the driver, it is alleged that he detected an odor of both burned and raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Further investigation allegedly revealed the discovery of suspected marijuana. Valdez was arrested without incident. In addition to the marijuana charge he was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and for having no front plate. He was released on his own recognizance.

(It should be noted that the charges against Valdez are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
