Each November, the department participates in Operation Christmas Child in that it distributes shoeboxes for the public to fill with hygiene items, socks, toys, artistic supplies etc. Once filled, the boxes are returned to the police department where they are eventually distributed to needy children throughout the world. In many cases, this is sometimes the only Christmas gift these children will get.
