Vacant home check
The Fairfield Police Department knows that many of our residents often take vacations or go on trips and that during these times, they have concerns about the safety of their homes. These are often times when residences are most vulnerable to burglary. Because we want you and your family to enjoy yourselves while on vacation and away from Fairfield, we will check on your home for you. When you are away for a short period of time, we will check your house on a daily basis. For longer periods, like when residents go south for the winter we will check them every few days.
The following are good practices to adhere to when you are away:
-
Put lights on timers so it appears as though someone is home
-
Have your mail picked up by a friend or neighbor, don’t let it pile up
-
Leave a car in the driveway if possible
-
If you have an alarm, make sure it is working properly
-
If you have security cameras, make sure they are working properly and you know how to use them
-
Make sure has keys to access your home
