Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrests of Joseph Monticello (38), and Penniann Monticello (41), both of East Hanover, NJ for shoplifting on May 18, 2024. On that date, police headquarters received a call from the Target store alleging a male and female had filled a shopping cart with merchandise and pushed it beyond the checkout area before being stopped by security. Both Monticello’s were detained while Officer Daniel Kalinowski responded to the Target store to review video of the incident. He was able to confirm the above alleged incident did in fact occur. The total shoplifted was $921.96. Both were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.
Penniann Monticello was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy. She was later released pending an initial appearance on July 30, 2024 at the Essex County Courthouse.
Joseph Monticello was also charged with shoplifting and conspiracy. He was subsequently transported to the Essex County Jail pending an initial appearance.
