Fairfield (NJ) On August 14, 2019, at approximately 3:42 P.M., the Fairfield Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a house fire on Big Piece Road. First responding officers found a heavy smoke condition coming from the garage area. The homeowner reported to the officers that all of the occupants were out of the home.
The Fairfield Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire. While most of the fire and water damage to the home was contained to the garage area there was smoke throughout the house. “The fire department did a phenomenal job to quickly contain and extinguish the fire before the whole home became involved” said Chief Anthony G. Manna.
Also assisting at the scene were firefighters from the North Caldwell and West Caldwell Fire Departments and ambulances from Atlantic Ambulance and the West Essex First Aid Squad. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau.
