Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Gregory Fox (57) of Delray Beach, Florida for driving a vehicle while under the influence on October 18, 2019. On that date, at approximately 10:16 P.M., Officer Louis Bisciotti was on patrol when he observed a 2019 Dodge van, allegedly weaving between lanes on Route 46 East. The vehicle was then stopped and found to be operated by Fox.
Upon speaking with he driver, it is alleged at Fox displayed signs and symptoms consistent with being under the influence to include a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from within the vehicle, bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech. Additionally, the officer allegedly observed a long stemmed wine glass that contained suspected white wine.
At this point, field sobriety tests were administered. Based upon the totality of the circumstances, Fox was placed under arrest and his vehicle impounded pursuant to New Jersey law. He was then transported to headquarters for breath testing. While at headquarters, it is alleged that Fox refused to provide breath samples as required by law.
In addition to being charged with driving under the influence, he was also charged with refusal to give breath samples, DUI in a school zone and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was eventually released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in the Fairfield Municipal Court.
(It should be noted that the charges against Fox are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
