Motor Vehicle Violations Lead to the Arrest of Two Caldwell Residents

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Ernesto Rivera (43), and Alex Wolfson (30), both of Caldwell, NJ on drug related charges. On March 31, 2023 at approximately 2:41 pm, Officer Patrick Reynolds was conducting a traffic detail on Lane Road when he observed Rivera and Wolfson approach in a vehicle having several motor vehicle violations which included an expired inspection sticker and tinted windows. Officer Reynolds stopped the vehicle regarding these violations and contacted both Rivera and Wolfson.

While speaking with both parties, they acted nervous and provided conflicting stories as to their whereabouts. Further investigation revealed the discovery of a zip-lock style bag containing a white, powdery substance and several pill capsules suspected to be cocaine. Also, allegedly located were 50 glassine envelopes containing suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia in the car. Rivera and Wolfson were then placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.

Both Rivera and Wolfson were charged with two counts of possession of CDS and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Rivera was also issued summonses for the motor vehicle violations and released pending a May 25, 2023 court date at the Essex County Superior Court. Wolfson was transported to the Essex County Correctional Center pending an initial court appearance.

(It should be noted that the charges are merely allegations and that there is a presumption of innocence until they either plead guilty or are found guilty in a court of law)
