Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Rose Torres-Rice for shoplifting on March 8, 2024.  On that date at approximately 2:10 pm, management from the Essex Adult Emporium, located on Route 46 East, contacted the Fairfield policestating a female had allegedly shoplifted from the store and was seen running across the parking lot towards the Red Roof Inn.  The female, described as wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, entered the store, and allegedly selected several pieces of clothing as well as an adult toy, and placed them on the counter while being helped by staff.
Â
It is further alleged that Torres-Rice asked to use the dressing room, and when staff began to escort her that way, Torres-Rice returned to the counter, took the items placed there earlier, and exited the store without paying. The total amount shoplifted was $225.24.
Â
Further investigation by Officer Daniel Kalinowski and Special Officer Juan Barroso led them to the Red Roof Inn at which time they recognized Torres-Rice from surveillance video observed at the store. She was placed under arrest without incident. Â
Â
Torres-Rice was transported to headquarters where she was charged with shoplifting and later transported to the Essex County Jail pending an initial appearance.
