Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Javaun Cooper (32), of Teaneck, NJ for shoplifting on October 28, 2023.  On that date at approximately 2:49 pm, officers were dispatched to the store on a report of a person being detained by store security.

Officer Patrick Reynolds investigated and located Cooper being detained by security. Â It is alleged that Cooper was observed by security concealing two electronic Ember Mugs in a bag, then placing them underneath other items in a shopping cart. Â It is further alleged that Cooper then used self-checkout to purchase all the items in the cart with the exception of the two mugs. Cooper then walked past all points of sale and was stopped by security. Â The total value shoplifted was $399.98.

Cooper was transported to police headquarters for processing where he was charged with shoplifting and later transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark, NJ pending a first appearance.
